Question of the Week: 6/20-6/26/16


Since the Emancipation Proclamation wasn’t announced until 1862, African American History and abolition are sometimes overlooked in studies of the Civil War’s first year.

How did they respond to the 1861 conflict? How did abolitionists use the beginning of the war to their positive advantage?

  2. I do not feel they are over looked in the first year of the war if any thing too much on the study.

    The “contraband” moniker by Ben “the Beast” Butler to justify not returning escaped slaves to their owners just after the war started.
