The Sesquicentennial of Stones River

StonesRiver-2xCannonsDon’t forget the sesquicentennial of the Battle of Stones River, going on now in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The battle itself took place Dec. 31, 1862-Jan. 2, 1863, but 150 years ago right now, the armies were moving into position.

For more information on sesquicentennial events that are running now through Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, check out the website at Stones River National Battlefield.

We’ll have posts going up about the battle over the next few days, as well.

Plus, check in for a look at what was inarguably one of the most important events of the war: the Emancipation Proclamation, which celebrates its 150th anniversary on Tuesday.
