Across Georgia to Atlanta

Last October, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a weekend with Steve Davis in Atlanta. We traveled and tramped about Georgia, getting pictures for his upcoming books in the Emerging Civil War Series. We started at Tunnel Hill and traveled to Rocky Face Ridge, Dalton, Resaca, New Hope Church, Pickett’s Mill, Kennesaw Mountain, Peachtree Creek and Ezra Church. We even stopped at Oakland Cemetery and paid our respects to the famous golfer Bobby Jones and author Margaret Mitchell. Ahead of publication, I want to share some of the pictures that may not make it into his books with our readers. This post will coverĀ A Long and Bloody Task. Pictures forĀ All the Fighting They Want will follow at a later date.

  1. Regarding the monument to the Confederate dead at Dalton, the figure on top is well equipped for a Confederate soldier.

  2. great picture of tunnel hill and Gen Pope mon, Also reminds me of the talk author and friend Mark Dunkelman did on his march thru Georgia for his book Marching with Sherman Honoring the 154 N.Y.
